Mr Weir, of Dunedin, has ba°n appointed to succeed Mr G. H. Ralph, in charge of the Eketahuna Presbyterian Circuit. The death occurred at Cross Creek, on Saturday morning, of Mrs Kirby, wife of Mr Kirby, schoolmaster there. The deceased, who was 56 , years of age, had been ill for some 'time. , Mr A. P.' Roydhouse, who has re- . signed from the service of the Wellington Education Board, was, on Friday afternoon last, presented by the teachers and scholars (f tht. Car- ~ terton District High School, with a pair of silver-mounted hair brushes, inscribed, as a mark of ' esteem. The Rev. John Law, of Auckland, die! on Saturday night after an illne s which had lasted some months, states a, Press Association telegram, ] Tha deceased can. "to the Dominion in 1868, and had harge of circuits in verfaua parts ot New Zealand. He • was in his 68th year, and is survived by his widow and four sons. The funeral of the late Mr Jamea Russall took place yesterday afternoon, the cortege being a large and ■representative one. The late Mr Russell, who had passe 1 his eightythird birthday, was born in the village nf Beckley, in Sussex (England), and left there for Australia over ififty-five yea's ago. He landed in Australia, but after a short residence in that country came to New Zealand, and took tip his residence in Wellingvton. Shortly afterwards he removed to Mastertqn. where he has lived ever since. Many years ago he was a prominent figure in local politics, i and was for some years a member of the Borough Council. He also occupied the post of Borough Engineer. The deceased leaves a widow but no family.
