Mr H. T. Rees ha 3 be?n re-elected conductor of the Greytowa Brass Band. Mr and Mrs C. B. Pharazyr, of Longbush, have returned home after an extended holiday in Australia. Mrs Collinson, a high'.y-respected resident; of Hamua, died on Saturday •last. At Hastings, last week, Miss Olive May Robinson, daughter of Mr E. Robinson, late of Nireaha, was married to Mr W. Young, at one time a resident of Nireaha. The death occurred at Martinborough, on Saturday night, of Mrs E. Syvret, a colonist of 35 years' standing. The 'deceased was 78 years of age. The death occurred at the residence of Mr Chas. Fairbrother, Carterton, at about 12 o'clock on Monday night, of Miss Rachael Griffiths, eldest daughter of Sergeant Griffiths, of Auckland. The deceased was sixteen years of age. Mr G. Thompson, of the Martinborough Post Office staff, who has been transferred to Dunedin, has been made the recipient of a gold watch chain from his friends in Martinborough, and a smoker's out-fit from the Martinborough Football Club. The death occurred on Monday of a very,,old resident of the Manawatu district, in the person of Mr William Upton Slack, the well-known breeder of purebred stock. Mr Slack was a Yorkshireman, and formerly lived at Geraldme, Canterbury. He was 77 years of age, and leaves a grown-up family of four sons and five daughter?.
