MANCHESTER RAILWAY ROBBERY.
ACCUSED SENTENCED TO IMPRISONMENT.
Received July 2, 10.30 p.m. LONDON, July 2. Margaret Gardiner was sentenced at the Manchester Assizer to twelve months' imprisonment in connection with the robbery ai the Manchester Station on May 20th.
A lady and gentleman at Manchester were about to start for Liverpool by train, and deposited in the guard's van four packagers. The guard himself did not see them deposited. Shortly afterwards, another lady informed the guard that she ha 1 in en compelled to postpone the journey and obtained fiom him the largest of the four packages containing seventy thousand pounds woith of. bcturities and jewellery. The owners of the package discovered their loss at Warrington. The woman was arrested at Liverpool, being then in possession of the package. Sin; gave her name as Margaret Gardiner.
