THE COMING BATCH.
An officer of the Justice Department has informed a press enquirer that it is impossible to say when the next batch of justices of the peace will be gazetted, though another bunch is on the tapis now. It is added that "the appointments, as a matter of fact, are only made when required." The words, "for political purposes" might well be added after the word "required," for the big batches of new appointments of J's.P. synchronise as a rule with the near approach of a general election.
