CANTERBURY RACES. BY TELEGRAPH —PRESS ASSOCIATION; CHRISTCHURCH, April 21. After a dull and showery morning' the weather turned out fine for the conclusion of the Canterbury Jockey Club's autumn meeting. The totalizator investments amounted to £12,552, and showed a decrease of £5,134, as compared with last year. I As against this there were twentynine bookmakers licensed, the fees amounting to £360. The racing was very interesting, the finish of the Great Autumn Handicap being very close. Results:— Peerswick Hurdles, If mile.— Eurus, 11.3, 1; Storm, 9.9, 2; Ability, 12.2, 3. Also started Southern Cross 10.10, Canton 9.8, and Stormont 9.4. Won by two lengths. Time, 3min 21 2-ssec. Stormont lost his rider when holding a good position. Autumn Nursery Handicap, fcr two-year-olds, 5 furlongs.—Flitaway, 9.1, 1; Armlet, 9.9. 2; Rock Perry, 7.7, 3. Won by three-quar-ters of a length. Time, lmin 2sec. Yaldhurst Welter Handicap, 7 furlongs.—Oiyoi, 8.2, 1; Cross Battery, 9.9, 2; Martyrium. 9.13, 3. Also started—Thunderer 9.5, Clanchattan 9.1, The Libyan 8.10, Rose Noble 8.10, Carissima 8.5, Nancy Stair 8.4, Mango 7.12, Helianthes 7.7, and Cerise and Blue 6.7. Won by a length and a half. Stratagem, Paragon and Signor made the early running, but rounding the top turn Paraxon dropped back, and Zimmerman ran up to the leaders.
