METEOROLOGICAL.
At 9 a.m. yesterday Captain Edwin issued the following forecast for the subsequent 24 hours : Wind.—Easterly, strong to gale at all places northward of Napier, Kaikoura, and Hokitika, but northerly strong to gale everywhere else. Barometer.—Fall everywhere. Rain is probable generally, and is likely to be heavy northwaid of East Cape, Taupo and Raglan. Warning signal for easterly gale is exhibited at Cape Maria Van Diemen, Tiritiri, East Cape, Capes Campbell, Foulwind and Farewell Spit, and for northerly gale at Nuggets. Mr J. C. Boddington reports that the rainfall registered at Upper Plain for the 24 hours up till 9 a.m. on Tuesday was 9 points. Mr S. Mawley, Ditton, reports as follows:—On March 18th .32 inches of rain fell; on March 19th, 1.56 in; on March 20th, 1.78 in; on March 21st, 1.84 in; on March 22nd, 1.17 in; and on March 23rd, .40in. The total for the month was 7.07 in.
