Mr F. Wise, of E&etafauna, left last week on a trip to Australia.
The death occurred at Hastings a few days ago of Mr C- Carter, an exresident of Pahiatua.
The death occurred at the town Hospital, on Friday last, of Mr James Wallace, at the age of 31 years. A few years ago the deceased lost both his legs in a railway accident. Mr C. Poison has been appointed postmaster at Morison's Bush, vice Mrs H. Waite, resigned. The funeral of the late Mr Leslie Reid, son of Mr J. Reid, took place at Clareville 'Cemetery on Saturday afternoon. The cortege, which was a lengthy one, included about 20 members of the Totara Lodge of Druids, of which the deceased's father is a member. The service at the graveside was conducted by the Rev. L. Thompson, of St. Andrew's Church. Bro. H. Hart, P.S., conducted the Druid's service. The pallbearers were: — Messrs PI. Hart, W. Hart, G. Hart -and R. Reid, cousins of the deceased. At Gisborne, last week, Mr A. W. Bain, commercial representative in Poverty Bay of the Kaiapoi Woollen Factory, who has been transferred from the East Coast line to the West Coast lir,e, was presented by the business people bf Gisborne with a set of cutlery, a dinner service and a set of pipes as a mark of esteem. Mr Bain is well-known in the Wairarapa.
