A Serious Offence.

ASHBURTON, January 3. At the Magistrate's Court to-day, before two justices, Albert Sims was charged with having assaulted on the Ist inst. a young v-oman on the main road between Ashourton and Fairfield with intent to commit a serious offence. Accused pleaded guilty, and, on the application of the police, was remanded for a week, bail being fixed at £SOO.
