MASTERTON TROTTING CLUB.
MEETING OP STEWARDS. A meeting of the Stewards of the Masterton Trotting Club was held on Saturday evening, and was attended by Messrs W. D. Watson (chairman), J. Cress, J. O'Meara, W. Whittaker, G. H. Yates, J. Dixon, D. McNair, H. O'Donnell, P. Buick, P. Dorset and A. Snodgrass. Mr W. Morris, a former steward of tha Club, in resjonse to a request from the Stewards, waited on the meeting to explain his conduct at a recent meeting of the Stewards when the quastion of postponing the annual trotting meeting of the club was under discussion. It was, also, stated that Mr Morris had written a letter to the secretary of the New Zealand Trotting Association, the contents of which were taken exception to. Mr Mcrris tendered an explanation, and i xpressed regret for what had occurred. He was somewhat heated at the time owing to the meeting having been postponed. The matter was subsequently discussed, and it was eventually decided, on the motion of Mr Yates, to impose a fine of £2 on Mr Morris, and to request him to ttnder a written apology to the secretary and stewards of the club; a copy of the apology to be forwarded to the secretary of the New Zealand Trotting Association.
Mr J. /Ames wrote stating that he woulcKsupply the totalisator. Mr A.' Cometti wi*ote stating that he would work the starting dock for the forthcoming trotting meeting. The resignation of Mr T. G. Nott as a member was accepted.
