HIGH COMMISSIONER'S REPORT. ISV TELEGIIAI'H—rKKSS ASSOCIATION. WELLINGTON, December 2. The High Commissioner cables from London under date November 30th, as follows. — The mutton market is quiet, but steady. There is a good demand for prime quality ' River Plate mutton is in Jft pply, being strongly pushed for sOTFat 3|d. Canterbury ! brands are quoted at 3£d, North Island 3fd. Thfe lamb market is quiet. The stocks on hand are light and the high prices asked for lamb is restrict-' ing business. There is a limited demand owing to the lateness of the season. Canterbury lamb is quoted at s§d, and other than Canterbury s£d. The beef market is steady with moderate demand, especially for forequarters, which are quoted at 2§d. Hindquarters average 3£d. The butter market is very firm, with a good demand. No immediate change in prices is anticipated. The choicest New Zealand brands are ' quoted at 118s.. Argentine 118s, Australian 3165, Siberian 110s, and Danish 1235. Unsalted butter is Is less than the above prices. . The cheese market is slightly weaker with less demand. Some holders are forcing sales, and buyers are holding back expecting prices to go lower. The cheese shipped by s.s. Corinthic arrived in good condition, and is quoted at 60s per cwt. The hemp market is dull. Trnnsactions are light at last quotations. There is better demand for hemj? on the spot. f The*cocksfoot seed market is quiat, and the prospects are favourable. , Buyers are not keen to do business at the present time. The average price of 171b, bright dressed seed, is 755.
