THE DOMINION'S MILK SUPPLY.
MEDICAL OPINIONS. BY TELEGBA.PH —PRESS ASSOCIATION. AUCKLAND,- November 29. Dr. Mason stated at last night's meeting of milk suppliers that Dunedin's milk supply was the best in the dominion, largely because there was -a big company there in which many milkmen were shareholders. An agreement had been made whereby the Agricultural Department would &ee that the regulations were carried out until the milk arrived at the depots, when the Health Department would see to the distribution without interfering vvith the rights of local bodies. Dr. Mason referred to the desirability of the establishment of clearing depots The quality of the milk in Auckland was better than in Wellington, which had absolutely the worst supply of the big cities. It was taken to town by train, dumped down at railway stations and left for hours sometimes with lids off. He intended to stoo this by regulations: Dr.* Purdy said that eighteen out of nineteen cases of enteric at Hamilton had been traced to one milk supply, where a man and his wife who milked the .cows were suffering from fever. Dr. Purdy agreed with the suggestion for the appointment of lady inspectors whose duty would be to go round the city inspecting milk receptacles.
