BENEATH THE WAVES.

SUBMARINES COLLIDE UNDER WATER.

Received November 24, 4.40 p.m. LONDON, November 23. Reuter's Toulon correspondent states that the submarines Bonite and Houffleur, at a depth of 90 feet, collided during a sham attack on the battleship Jaulegniberry, owing to an error of judgment on the part of th£ Bonite's commander. The Houffleur's conning tower was struck and the vessel began to fill. She ascended to the surface, and the Bonite coming to her assistance again collided with her. The rest of the fleet noticed nothing though only 400 yards away. The sub i arines eventually regained port safely.
