STOCK MARKET.
Rose, Ltd., Dannevirke, report as follows:—During the past fortnight we have held the following sales: — Saturday, October 26th, Dannevirke horse sale: An entry of between 50 and 60 horses camo forward, all classes being represented. Competition was very keen for light harness horses and hacks, the majority changing hands. Monday, October 28th, Norsewood ac- -jSiale: The entry consisted chiefly offflßTng stock, for which there was little competition, but all the lines were sold privately after the sale. Tuesday, October 29th: Mr Beck's clearing sale, Norsewood: There was a good attendance and all the horses, cattle and implements were keenly competed for. Draught horses realised up to £57, and cattle *.vere all sold under the hammer at ruling prices. Friday, November Bth, Dannevirke stock sale: We had a very large entry, cattle predominating and with the exception of one pen of cows, every line was sold. We had several good lots of steers, which caused keen competition. The prices realised were as follow:—Sheep: A line of prime fat ewes, from Kopua, 25s 3d; other fat ewes 21s 7d, ewes with 100 per cent, of lambs, for which there was big competition, brought 26s'6d. Cattle: Bullocks (fat) £7los to £7 IBs, forward steers £4 16s to £5 3s, fat cows £3 15s to £5, 18-months to 2-year-old steers £2 15s to £3; cows at the drop £3 to £5 12a 6d. forward empty cows £2 10s, store cows, calves at foot £2 2s 6d to £2 10s, bulls £1 to £4. Pigs: Baconers 35s to £2 Is; porkers 19s to 265, weaners 12s. We also report having held a good sale on behalf of Mr James Steele, a total clearance being effected.
Messrs Dalgety and Co., Ltd., report as follows:—We held our Pahiatua sale on Tuesday. There was a good yarding of cattle; and a fair yarding of sheep. There was keen competition for steers. AH sheep sold under the hammer. We quote : Fat and forward ewes in wool to 18s 2d, aged ewes and hoggets 13s Id, rams to 17s Gd, rising 3-year steers £4 10s, good 18-months steers to £3 3s 6d, yearling sheers 34s to £2 7s, empty store cows to £2. mixed yearlings (poor sorts) 29s 6d, springing heifers £3, bulls to £5.
