WELLINGTON WOOL AND SKIN SALES.

Messrs Lsvin and Co., Ltd., report as follows on Friday's sale: —We offered 2,000 skins, 1,000 hides and calfskins, and a quantity of tallow and horsehair. There was a good attendance of buyers. No wool was offered, as all bale wool is being held over for the first wool sale of the season, to be held next Friday. Skins—Advices were received from London to-day of a fall in skins at the London sales, and prices consequently fell here to the extent of one penny for fine and three farthings for coarse. We quote Merinos 7d to Bd, fine crossbreds 8d to B£d, coarse crossbreds 7Jd to Bd, dead skins to 7fd, dead hoggets 6d to 6£d, dry pelts 5d to s£d, green skins 5s to 8s Id. Tallow—Firm; parcels in shipping order £26, tins £l7 to £23, rough fat £l4. Horsehair—ls to Is 4d per lb. Horns—6s to 20* per 100. Cowtails—ls to- Is 6d per dozen. Hidss —Slightly easier. Calf fell further halfpenny per lb. We quote: , -Ox hides (extra heavy) 6§d to 6£d, ox hides (601b to 7Ulb) sfd to 6£d, ox hides (501b to 591b) 5d to s§d, cow hides 4£d to 4fd, calf skin 1 ? (best) 5d to 6£d, calf skins (cut and slippy) 2d to 4d, hides (cut and slippy) 2£d to 3Jd, stag hides 3d to ?§d, bull hides 2Jd to 3Jd. Our next sale will be held on November 22nd, 1907. The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Co., Ltd., report as follows: —We offered a small lot of wool, about 1,000 skins, 150 hides, 800 calfskins and a quantity of horsehair, cowtails and tallow. Cable advices indicate a drop in London sheepskin sales just concluded, and, this was reflected in the local sales 'to-day, prices being Jd to id per lb lower than last sale. Hides sold readily enough at late rates, but prices for calfskins were slightly easier. We quote:—Sheepskins— Halfbreds and fine crossbred B.£d to Bfd, coarse crossbred 6d to 7fd, dead Gd to 6|d, broken and inferior, 4d to s£d, green skins 6s to 8s 3d each, green lamb skins Is to Is 4d each. Hides —Medium ox 4§d to 6d, cow 4d to 4fd, cut and damaged 2£d to 3£d, calf, sound 5Jd to 6£d, cut and damaged 2£d to 4|d. Tallow— Mixed, in shipping order 26s 9d per cwt, tins and odd packages 20-s to 23s 6d, rough fat 13s 9d to 14s.
