Mr Cutten succeeds Mr Brabant as S.M. at Napier. Mr J. Bottomly, of Woodville, has returned to the dominion after an extensive tour of the Old Country. Mr S. E. Wright, of Masterton, has been offered and accepted the position of Secretary of the Hawke's Bay Employers' | Association. He will take up his new duties about the beginning of December. Mr and' Mrs Walter Tate, of Greytown, have gone on' an extended holiday to the Wanganui district. The jockey Thomas Taylor, who was injured when Pohutu fell in the <3reat Northern Guineas, at the Auck- * land Racing Club's meeting, diod at the Auckland hospital on Sunday night. He was 41 years of age, and 'leaves a widow and several children. Mr George Wallace' has been appointed stationmaster at Mangatainoka.
