Six others started. Won by four lengths. Time, I'min 7'isec. Oaks.—Lady Rylstone 1, Lady Oinidence 2, Maltine 3. Also started Vanorize, Lady Kelvin, Juggle. Betting: 5 to 4 on Lady Diffidence, 2_to .1 against Lady Rylstone. Vaporize and' Juggle led alternately for a time, then Lady Diffidence took charge and led into the straight, but at the distance Lady Rylstone chopped hei dr;vn and won by half a length. TURF NOTES. By Zetland. TARATAHI-CARTERTON ME STING. Tin acceptances for this meeting are most satisfactory, and excellent racing should be witnessed to-mor-row. The general arrangements in connection with the meeting are well forward, and the racing track is in yple;/.did order With fine weather some fast times should be registered. The following are suggested a3 likely to run the most forward in their engagements:— Belvedere Hack —Erl King and San Julie. Railway Handicap—Full Rate and Splendid Idea. Trial Plate—Formidable and King Post. Wairarapa Guineas —Blue Ribbon and Borderland. Hack Hurdles—Royal Blue and Hatley. County Cup—Douche and Mataari. King Edward Handicap -Strathicona and Flingot. Gladstone Welter—Truthful and W arloch. ELLERSLIE TRAINING NOTES. By Telegraph—Press Association. AUCKLAND, November 7. The weather was fine for training operations at Ellerslie this morning. The outside, course proper, sand and tan were all open and very fast. Cadence ran six furlongs in lmin 23sec. Carl Rosa easily held Waipuna at the end of seven furlongs, done in lmin 34 2-ssec. Necktie went six furlongs in lmin IS l-ssec —a good gallop. The filly has more than an outside chance in the Guineas. Downfall made hacks of Dan Leno and Huldanu over a mile, run in iihin 4S l-Saec, Lady Dot assisting over the first three furlongs. The Guineas candidate did very well. All the above worked the course proper. Cumbrian an.) Pohutu, neither ridden out, covered six furlongs on the tan in lmin 20 3-ssec. Chanteuse and Veronica were together at the end of fc ur furlongs on the course proper, their timo being 5.1 l-53cc. Loftus went alone for five furlongs on the sand, his time being lmin 4sec. Port Light occasioned a lot of surprise by covei'ing seven furlongs of the course proper in lmin 33see, badly beating Lady Regel. Tunewha's 11 jp was the best of the season. TJhlander beat Lucrece over six furlungs on the tan in lmin 21 2-ssec. Waimangu went easier than Santa Tiosa over a half-mile of the cotirse In 53sec. Roosevelt did five furlongs nn the course in lmin Bsec. Baltimore did a mile on the course in lmin 52 3-ssec, and Epsom six furlongs on the grass in lmin 22 3-ssec. Kauparaha easily held Luros and Lochbuie at the end of six furlongs on the course in lmin 20sec. Tainoanupo went four furlongs on the
course in 50 l-ssec. General Soult, Sedition and Glenvar were in that order at the end of the same journey, done in 51 3-ssec. A large number of others worked.
