METEOROLOGICAL.

Mr J. C. Boddington reports, that rain fell on the Upper Plain on 23 days in October. The maximum fall in 24 hours was 58 points on 11th, and the minimum fall 1 point on.the I 30th. The total rainfall for the month was 3.95 inches, as against y.34, 7.22 and 1.11 inches for 1904, 1905 and 1906, respectively. The total rainfall during, the 10 months of the year was 51.29 inches, as against 40.25, 43.97; and 35.63 inches for the corresponding period in 1904, 1905 and 1906. The following weather forecast was issued.by Captain Edwin, at 9 a.m., yesterday, for the subsequent 241 hours:— . ! Wind.—Heavy gale from the northward in all parts of the dominion, but changing at places southward of Lyttelton and Hokitika to between west and south after 16 hours. Barometer.—Full everywhere, but rising after 16 hours at ; ail places southward of Lyttelton and Hokitika. Sea.—Heavy on all western coast, also on east coast northward of East Cape, and from Castlepoint southward. '''.-• Tides.—Very high on west coast of North Island; high on east coast northward of East Cape, and from Castlepoint southward; good on west coast of South Island; moderate all other ports. • Rain.—Probably heavy in most parts of the country, and North Island rivers flooded after 24 hours. Warning signal for northerly gale is exhibited at Cape Maria Van Diemen, Tiritiri, East Cape, Capes Campbell, Foulwind and Farewell Spit, and lor westerly gale dt Nugget Point. The signal for westerly gale will be shown at Capes Campbell, Foulwind and Farewell Spit after sunrise.
