WAIRARAPA CALEDONIAN SOCIETY
ANNUAL MEETING. The members of the Wairui'apa Caledonian Society held their 31st annual meeting in the Masterton A. and P. Association's Rooms, on Saturday afternoon. The President. Mr J. H. Pauling, was unavoidably absent, and the chair was occupied by Mr J. B. McKenzie. The others present were: — Messrs R. Cameron, J. Cross, E. E. Chamte-lain, F. F. Day, J. Harvey; A. Haughey, G. Heron, G. McHattie, D. McLaehlan, T. P. Lett, J. B. McKenzie, R. McKenzie, A. McLeod, W. Sellar, G." Stewart, G. R. Sylces, A. Turner, W. Smith and T. Wyeth. An apology for absence was received from Mr E. H. Waddington. The President s annual report and the balance-sheet, which have already been published in the Age, were adopted on the motion of the Chairman, seconded by Mr Heron. A letter was received from the Masterton Pipe Band, asking the Society to appoint four or five directors to meet representatives of the Band, and the St. Patrick's Sports Association, for the purpose of discussing certain matters connected with the management of the Band. On the motion of Mr Sellar ssconded by Mr Lett, it was resolved not to be represented at the meeting. Instead it was decided to make an effort to establish a pipe band in connection with the Society, and for that purpose the Society is prepared to entertain proposals from pipers in the district, who are willing to form such a band. The St. Patrick's Day Sports Association wrote notifying the appoint- | ment of Messrs H. O'Leary and J. I Cullen to meet the Society's directors | with reference to ei gaging a ground j for the next annual sports of both bodies.
Mr Wyeth moved that the annual sports meeting of the Society be held on the Park Oval as usual. This was seconded by Mr Cross. An amendment was moved by Mr Turner, "that the sports be held on the Showgrounds or other suitable grounds apart from the Park Oval." After discussion • the amendment was carried by 12 votes to 8. Messrs Chamberlain, Lett and McKenzie, were appointed to wait on the Ground Committee of the A. and P. Association on Saturday next with a view to obtaining the use of the Showgrounds for the sports on January Ist, 1908. Officers for the ensuing year were ,elected as follow President Mr T. P. Lett; Vice-Presidents, Messrs D. McLachlan and W. Sellar; Treasurer, Mr E. E. Chamberlain; Auditor, Mr R. Brown; Honorary Piper, Mr W. Smith; Directors, Messrs R. Cameron, 11. J. Dagg, F. F. Day, W. L. Falconer, K. Gray, D. Guild, J. Harvey, G. Heron, Jag. McKenzie, J. B. McKenzie, G. McHattie, J. McHattie, A. McLeod, A. Mutrie, J. H. Pauling, G. Stewart, A. Turner, E. H. Waddington, W. D. Watson, T. Wyeth (all re-elected), D. G. Brown, A. Haughey, F. Kummer, H. Morrison and G. R. Sykes. Votes of thanks were accorded to all the retiring officers. It was decided to hold the annual concert on New Year's night next. Messrs Pauling, J. B. McKenzie, Watson, Waddington, Wyeth, McLeod, Haughey, Stewart and Turner were appointed a committee to draw up a d>-aft programme for the annual sports. Mr Sellar moved the following motion: —"That rules 14 and 1-5 be altered to permit of the Society's financial year closing on June 30th, and the annual meeting of members being held during the second week in August." This was seconded by Mr G. McHattie and carried. I ■
