THE FLOUR AND WHEAT BILL.
The Premier state* that it is his intention to bring down his promised Flour and Wheat Bill this week. The object o," the measure is to provide for the remission of duty when wheat and flour reach a certain price. Flour and wheat are at abnormal figures just now, and promisa to reach still higher prices. The ma'n food staple naturally goes up with the advancing prices of wheat and flour, and the chief sufferers are the working classes and those members of the community whose earnings are small and precarious. By the admission of wheat and flour duty free there is some prospect of keeping the price of bread down to a reasonable extent, and it is understood this is the desideratum aimed at by the Bill, while the Premier's measure will, of course, carefully safeguard the wheat-growing industry.
