WELLINGTON WOOL AND SKIN SALES.
Messrs Levin and Co., Ltd., report as follows regarding Friday's sale:—We held our fortnightly sale to-day, offering 20 bales of wool, 2,600 skins, 580 hides, and a quantity of tallow and horsehair. There was a good attendance of buyer?. For wool there was good competition at last sale rate. Wool —We quote Coarse crossbred 7d to Bd, rough and inferior 6d to 7d, pieces and bellies 4Jd to s|d, locks 3d to 4d, crutchings (good) 5d to 6Jd, crutchings (seedy) 4d to sd. Skins were easier to extent of Jd to Jd per lb in sympathy with London realisations. Green skins fell 6d to Is. We quote—Merinos 7d to Bd, fine crossbreds B£d to 9d, coarse crossbreds 7Jd to BJd, dead skins 6Ad to 7K dead hcggets 6Jd to 7d, dry pelts 5d to 6£d, green skins 5s to 7s 6d. Tallow—Firm; parcels in shipping order £26, tins £l7 to £23, rough fat £l3. Horsehair—ls to Is 4d per lb. Horns—6s to 25s 9d per 100. Cowtails —Is to Is 8d per dozen. HHes were easier all round about a farthing. We quote —Ox hides (extra heavy) 6Jd, ox hides (601b to 701b) s|d to fijd, ox hides (501b to 591b) 5d to sgd, cow hides 4*d to 4fd, calf skins (best) 6d to 7d, calf skins (cut and slippy) 3d to sd, liides (cut and slippy) 3d to 4d, stag hides 3d to 3§d, bull hides 2Jd to 3Jd. Our next sale will be held on Friday, October 25th, 1907. The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Ag«n:y Co., Ltd., report as follows:—We offered a few bales and bags of crutchings and dead wool, about 1,000 skins, and a large number •of hides and calf-skins, also a few packages of tallow. The demand was good for skins, heavy hides were about level of last sales, but light and damaged were lower in sympathy with the low prices ruling in Australia for this class of hides. Calfskins were rather easier. The wool •offered was of indifferent quality and realised full value. Wool—Medium crutchings 5d to ssd, inferior 2£d'to 3£d, dead wool B.id. Sheep«kins Merino (none offered), crossbred, fine S|d to 9d, coarse 7kl to B£d, -dead 6d to 7£d, broken and inferior 4}d to sfd, green 5s to 8s 9d each. Hides—Ox (light) 4gd to s{jd, cow (light) 4gd to 4£d, damaged l£d to 4d. Calfskins-Best to per lb, medium to 6Ad per lb, cut and damaged Sd to sd. Tallow—ln tins to 23s per cwt, rough fat 15s 6d. Messrs Dalgety and Co., Ltd., report as follows:—We held our fortnightly sale of wool, skins, hides and tallow on Friday afternoon. Competition was lacking in spirit, and consequently the sale was of a dragging nature. Wool—Market firm at late rates. Bag lots only were offering, all bales being held until the November sales, when the new season's wool will be on the market. We quote—Crossbred Bid, crutchings 5Jd to 6d, dead 6Jd to BJd. Sheepskins—Market easier for all grades at £d to id lower than last sale prices. We quota—Fine crossbred--Bfd to 9d per lb, coarse crossbred 7£d to Bd, shorts 6-fcd to 7d, inferior and dead 6£d to 6fd, lambs 6d to 7id, butchers' green 6s to 7s each. Hides —Market showed a decline of from Jd to |d per lb. We quote—Ox, best s£d to s|d, cow 4|d to 4|d, calf 6Jd to 63d. Tallow—Market firm. We quote—Casks in shipping order £26 per ton, in tins 22s 9d to 23s 6d per cwt.
