I NAPIER TRAINING NOTES. By Telegraph—Press Association. HASTINGS, September 30. There was a great number of horses out this morning doing their winding up gallops for the meeting, which commences here on Wednesday next. The plough gallop is very fast, and once round (equal to a mile on the grass) in lmin 42sec, were very common performances. Grand Slam and Barca galloped once round, the former finishing several lengths in front. Elevation and Paritutu were given a mile at solid pact!, Elevation finishing (the once round occupying lmin 42sec) full of running, three lengths ahead of his companion. Downfall started for once round by himself, but was picked up at the six furlongs mark by Loftus, and they ran home together. Faro, Kaipetipeti, and Taura finished in the order named over once round. . Dan Leno and Clochette ran six furlongs, Clochetto finishing in front in lmin 20sec. Mecca ran a mile out by himself in fine style, doing once round in lmin 42sec. Muskerry and Lamsdorff jumped off together from the six furlongs post, but the former easily held Lamsdorff safe. All Red and Gold Crest finished together once round, but All Red ga'.loped in a very taking manner, and had his companion's measure, finishing* in a tick under 42sec. Gazely and Ellerton finished together in a seven furlongs spin. Mauri was schooled twice round over sticks, but loses ground by dwelling before taking the jumps. He shows pace, however, between jumps. After breakfast Lavinia and Spunjard were given a circuit over the .schooling hurdles, both jumping well. Golden Comb was schooled alone, making a good display. Polyanthus ran once round, and was picked up on the journey by Maku and a two-year-old in Munn's stable, taking lmin 45 .sec. Mystification was accompanied by Borderland in the first half, and was joined by Fairyland at the halfmile peg, and had easily the best of his two companions. The others out were Lyrist, Comedian, Pushful, Iceland, King Billy and Moriarity, The various improvements on the Taratahi racecourse are nearing completion, and Mr P. Hodder (custodian) is working assiduously to have the track in tip-top order for the Novem, ber meeting.
