OTAGO v. WELLINGTON. By Telegraph—Press Association. DUNEDIN, September 21. The interprovincial football match Otago v. Wellington was played on the Caledonian Ground, to-day, in the presence of about 8,000 spectators. The weather was fine, but cold, and the ground in splendid order. The game, which was fast and evenly contested, resulted in a win for the home team by 9 points (3 tries) to 6 points (2 tries). For the winners tries were scored by Macpherson (2) and Paton, while Evenson scored both tries for Wellington. The forwards on both sides played well, and gave some fine exhibitions of clever footwork. The backs also played well excapt that the passing was erratic at times.
AUCKLAND v. TARANAKI. By Telegraph—Press Association. AUCKLAND, September 21. The return interprovincial match Auckland v. Taranaki, was played here, this afternoon, in fine weather, in the presence of about 5,000 people. The game was fast and exciting. Auckland won by 12 points to 8 points. For the local team Wilson, Asher, Hogan and Seeling scored tries, while T. Sheehan and Hunter scored for Taranaki, and Colman converted one of the tries. MARTINBOROUGH v. RUAHINE. JUNIOR CHAMPIONSHIP .WON BY MARTINBOROUGH. The contest for the Junior Championship of the Wairarapa Rugby Union was concluded, on Saturday, when Martinborough defeated Ruahine, on the Carterton Showgrounds, by 11 points to nil, and thereby won the championship. The game was a very interesting one all through, no score being registered by either side during the first spell. In the second spell, Cowan scored a try for Martinborough, which Marshall failed to convert. Shortly afterwards, Quaine crossed the line, but Cowan was unable to convert. The last try was scored by Land, and this time Dennet converted.

On board the Ophir, Mr C. E. Green proposed the health of the Marylebone team leaving for Australia. The, team, he said, if not SO representative as one could have wished, was a good one. He was sure every man would uphold the honor of the Marylebcne club and England. Mr A. O. Jones (captain), replying, alluded to 4 the difficulties in selecting a team and regretted that several old hands had ' cried off, but this would give the young players a splendid chance such as they never had before.
