By Telegraph —Press Association. MARTON, September 5. There was wet weather for the second day's racing, and the course was very heavy. The totalisator investments for both days amounted to £13,576, as against £12,420 for last year. There were a number of spills in the Steeplechase, and F. Whitehouse, rider of Bullworth. received internal injuries, and was removed to a private hospital. Results: — Telegraph Handicap.—Waihuku 1, St. Claimer 2, Silver Shell 3. Also started —'Frisco. WELLINGTON v. WAIRARAPA. The Wellington and Wairarapa representative hockey teams met or the Lunsdowne ground, yesterday af'ernoon. The match ended in a draw, after an even game. The play was not of a very brillianl order. The teams were as follow: Wellington.—Goal, Pearson; fullbacks, L. Ashbolt and M. Spiers halves, Cathie, King and Exley; forwards, Organ, Willis, Horrocks ; -Hollis and Castles. Wairarapa.—Goal, Hall; fullbacks, Smith and Denton; halves, Carley, Donald and Richards; forwards, Nixon, Rue,' Wing, Williams anc Gray. The play in the first spell was of i rather uninteresting nature. Wei lington showed better combinatior than Wairarapa. The visitors attacked and several dangerous rushei were stopped by hard hitting on th« part of Donald, Smith and Ricnard? Wellington were not to be denied however, and from a scramble ir front of the goal Willis drove the bal into the net. Wairarapa then as sumed the offensive, but were unable to get the ball past Ashbolt, who goi in some fine line hits. Wellingtut returned to the attack, and kep Wairarana's goal in danger for som< time. Williams came to the rescui with a geo3 dribbling run, and shortly afterwards the same player and Ru< ware associated in an attack, fron which Rue shot a goal. The visitor: soon had Wairarapa again busy de fending their goal, and some gooc defensive work was put in by Hall Smith and Kichards. Towards th< end of the spell the home tean made a determined assault on th« visitors' line, and Rue and Graj made unsuccessful shots at goal Wairarapa were attackng when half time sounded, with the scores equal Both teams livened up in the secon half, and some good play was wit nessed. Rue and Williams especiall; put in some good work for Wairarapa Pearson saved a shot at goal by Wai rarapa, and then Wellington attacke strongly. Wing put m good rur and brought relief for a while, bu Wellington returned to the attack and Willis scored his second gOE for the visitors. Wairarapa the) "•livened un, and attacked vigorously but Ashbolt always saved in fin style, and found the line with wel! judged hits. Williams and Ruj wer again associated in another attacl on the Wellington goal, and eventu ally Ru2 scored a splendid goal Play was now fast and exciting Rue and Williams put in fine wor again, but the Wellington fullbacks Ashbolt and Spiers, saved the situ ation. Wellington then had a tuf at attacking. Hall nicely saved ; shot at goal and folk wed it up wit a good line hit. Williams made anc ther good run up the field, and th visitors' was in dangei. 1h visitors drove their opponents bad again, and Organ made a good ru down the line. After some excitin; play, Hollis scored a good goal fo Wellington.- Wellington were no\ leading by one goal, and it wante about two minutes to the call of time Fast and exciting play ensued. The Williams made a brilliant run. H beat several of his opponents, passe the goalkeeper, and ended up a fin piece of play by scoring a well-carne
