WIDENING OF MAKORA STREET.

. * __ TO BE PROCEEDED WITH. At the special meeting of the Master ton Borough Council, last evening, Cr Ewington brought up the question of widening Makora Street. He said this was a matter that had been often before the Council, and one that should now be finally dealt with. The Council had the offer of the necessary land to widen the street from all the residents except two or three, and he would suggest that their land be taken under the Public Works Act if they still refuse to give it. He moved that the widening of the street be proceeded with, the expend • iture not to exceed.£l6s. Cr Pauling seconded the motion, which was carried.
