FOOTBALL.

The representative match Wairarapa v. Wellington will be played on the Showgrounds, Masterton, on Saturday next. As Wellington are not sending up their strongest team and as Wairarapa generally make a good stand on their own ground an interesting ■contest may be expected to take place. Additional interest will be .lent to the rrfatch by the fact that Mitchinson, the "All Black" threequarter, is playing for Wellington. A correspondent writes:—The team selected to represent Wairarapa against Wellington, on Saturday, probably is the best that could be got together with one or two exceptions. The omission of C. Ross from the forward division is the worst blunder made by the selectors, and except that he has not been available for past matches it is difficult to understand why he was not included m the team.* There are only one or two other forwards in the district who can bear comparison with Ross, and his loss will be keenly l'eit on Saturday. The inclusion of an extra backis a move in the right direction, and Adams' inclusion is only what was due to a legitimate half-back long ago. Whether N: McKenzie will fill the bill as extra five-eighth or not is .a very open question. The following will represent Rangitumau against Kopuaranga, :at Rangitumau, on Saturday next: Millar, Harvey, P. McLachlan, T. Chamberlain, B. Chamberlain, R. Tait, N. McLachlan, Blatchford, Harvey, N. Wilton, E. Wilton, L. Wilton, F. Wilton. Cameron, E. McLachlan. Emergencies - Donovan, H. Wilton. The following team will represent Kopuaranga: Chambers, Cross, Clarke (2), Briggs, Edwards, Hibbertson, Steel, Stewart (2), Scorrar (2), McKenzie, Wrigley .and Donovan. The Old Boys of the Eketahuna Public School "have the Masterton District High School football team to play a match at Masterton on the 19th inst. The ; Masterton team have 'accepted the challenge.
