ROYAL OPERA COMPANY.
The announcement published in the advertising columns this morning, containing the date and particulars of a special performance to be given in Master ton on Tuesday evening next by Mr George Musgrove's Royal Grand Opera Company will be read with great interest by music lovers and theatre-goers. This will be the first time in the history of Masterton that Grand Opera has been staged here. The success of this large organisation of over one hundred and twenty people has been well heralded ever since their brilliant season in Melbourne. The present company is the largest and most costly operatic organisation that has ever visited New Zealand, and is ci nposed of artists specially selected by Mr George Musgrove during his recent trip to Europe. Only one performance can be given in Masterton, but the forward bookings of the tour will not possibly allow any more. The opera selected for representation here is Gounod's famous work, "Faust," the most popular in the company's repertoire. The full and complete company, including the grand opera orchestra, full chorus and ballet, will be brought to Masterton, and the production will be mounted in the same way as regards scenery, costuming, and general production as in the large cities. The prices of admission are announced as being—dress circle and reserved stalls 7s 6d, unreserved stalls ss, and pit 3s. The box plan for the dress .circle and reserved stalls will be opened at Miss Rive's at nine o'clock to-morrow (Wednesday) morning.
