THE FEDERAL TARIFF.
DISSATISFIED STATES. Received August 12, 9 a.m. MELBOURNE, August 12. The high tariff has created alarm amongst moderate Protectionists »in the Federal Parliament, and there will be probably be a rearrangement of the position of parties, the two sections of the Opposition being brought into closer relationship. PERTH, August 12. The Treasurer declares that the new Federal tariff is a disaster to Western Australia, and that agriculturists, miners, and others connected with primary industries, will have to pay the piper.
