CORRESPONDENCE.
Editor.) Sir,—l notice there has been a *good deal said and written of late in j connection with the Chinese, both as -fruiterers, vegetable-men, and laun- j dry-men: but I have laid low and , heard and read it all. But, Sir, I would like to draw your numerous readers' attention to one fact that I -have noticed and experienced in connection with Chinese laundry work, .and it is as follows:—Last Christmas I purchased two starched shirts and four collars. In regard to the shirts I paid exactly the same price for each, and was quite sure as to their equal quality. As lam a man that soils two shirts and four collars in a week, I sent one shirt and two collars to a European laundry and one shirt and two collars to a Chinese every week since the first week in January. Now, Sir, I will say that those done up at the Chinese were always nice and stiff and glossy, and far superior looking to those done up at the European's. I have, also, taken a note of what each shirt have cost me, and I find that B£d is the only difference, and the whiteman being that amount higher. But, sir, I now find that the shirt done up by the Chow is simply rotten, not to speak of the frayed edges, and the two collars are also worn out. As for the shirt done up at the white man's laundry, it is good enough for at least three more months wear, and the collars also, and has only cost more. Nov/, Sir, I hope your readers will take notice of this, and see for themselves the advantage they get from a Chow laundry— B£d saved in seven months, and an 8s 6d —jli?,rt and two Is collars ruined. Apologising for trespassing on so much of your space.—l am, etc., NO MORE CHOW. Masterton, July 25th, 1907.
