Details of the explosion on the battleship Georgia show that .while: a charge of 200 pounds of powder was being lifted from the .hoist two seamen noticed the cover .smouldering. They shouted a warning and threw themselves on the floor. A terrific burst of flame and the turret was filled with smoke and noxious gases. A number of men tried .to.escape through the hatchway.
