GRAIN AND PRODUCE REPORT.

(Special to Age.) Messrs Dalgety and Company, Ltd., Wellington, report as follows: —We held out fortnightly auction sale of grain, etc., at our store, Thorndon Quay, on Tuesday, the 18th instant, when we submitted a large and representative catalogue. Competition for the various lines on offer was fairly good, and, with the exception of chaff, the greater portion of our catalogue was disposed of either at auction or privately at full market rates. Oats—Values ruling to-day were on a par with those obtained at out last sale. Buyers, however, are not disposed to stock anything like a quantity at the present high prices. We quote: Seed oats up to 3s 6d; prime feed, A grade quality, 3s 2£d to3s4rl, good feed, 3s ljd to 3s 2d per bushel (sacks extra). Fowl Wheat:—ln sympathy with the drop in prices in the South Island, the local market is also easier, although there is not by any means a large quantity offering. We quote : Best whole fowl wheat 4s and 4s 2d, and medium 3s 9d to 3s lid per bushel (sacks extra). Potatoes —The market continues to be well supplied, and only best table sorts are in re.iuest. We quote: Prime lots £4 7s 6d to £4 12s 6d; others, £3 15s to £4 5s per ton (bags in). Chaff—Prices have advanced to the extent of about 5s per ton since our last sale. Buyers, however, will only purchase for their immediate requirements and are not disposed to operate freely at present rates. The market, however, is firm. We quote: Prime oaten sheaf, £4 15s to £5, extra prime to £5 ss, medium quality 82s 6d to 90s per ton (bags extra). Turnips—We quote: Best swedes at from 30s to 40s per ton, bagged.
