AN AMERICAN SENSATION.
MINERS' LEADERS CHARGED WITH MURDER. Received May 10, 8.54 a.m. NEW YORK, May 9. Widespread interest is being taken in America in the trial at Borse City (Idaho) of Tom Moyer, president, and William Haywood, secretary of the Miners' Federation, on a charge of murdering ex-Governor Steunberg, Borse is filled with troops. A man named Harry Orchard has confessed that he was promised 3,000 dollars to kill Steunberg. Orchard says he tied a bomb to Steunberg's gate, and it exploded with fatal results. Orchard planned 26 murders for the inner circle of the Western Federation of Miners. (A cablegram received in March of last year stated that Orchard had been arrested for the murder of Frank Steunberg, formerly Governor of Idaho. Orchard had confessed to 76 murders, also to receiving, from the murder of Steunberg, £760 from Moyer and Hey wood. It was 1 alleged that Steunberg was murdered in revenge for former prosecutions.)
