MUNICIPAL ELECTIONS.
NOMINATIONS FOR MAYOR AND ) COUNCILLORS. I Nominations for the offices of Mayor and Councillors for the Borough of Masterton closed at 12 o'clock noon yesterday. The following nominations were received for the position of Mayor:— Mr J. M. Coradme, nominated by Messrs J. Hessey, L. J. Hooper, and G. McHattie; Mr E. McEwen, nominated by Messrs J. A. Renall, W. Morris, J. H. Pauling, E. G. Eton, J. EWiott, P. W. Temple, and J. C. Ewington. The following candidates have been nominated for the Council:—F. W. ' Temple, nominated by F. C. Daniell and E. H. Waddington; James Elliott, nominated by J. A. Renail and E. McEwen; J. H. Pauling, nominated by G. Mcllattie and C. A. Pownall; W. Morris, nominated by G. Wyeth and R. Rigg; J. C. Ewington, nominated by J. Elliott, J. A. Renall, E. G. Eton, and J. H. Pauling; John Smith, nominated by P. L. Hollings and G. McHattie; J. P. Prentice, nominated by F. W. Temple and J. H. Pauling; W. Pragnell, nominated by J. Whittaker, D. Caselberg and H. J. O'Leary; A. Haughey, nominated by M. C. O'Connell and J„ W. Cochrane; E. G» '.Williams, nominated by E. McEwen | and M. J. There are three candidates for the Mayoralty, this year, the present Mayor (Mr M. Cohen) and Messrs R. Essex and E. Hurley. For the nine seats on the Borough Council there are eighteen nominations. WOODVILLE, April 17. Mr Hubert Burnett was re-elected, unopposed, Mayo** of Woodville. There are twelve nominations for nine \acancies in the Council. PAHIATUA, April 17. Mr D. Crewe was returned, unopposed, for the Mayoralty. Onlythree candidates have been nominated for the nine seats on the Council. CARTERTON, April 17. Messrs A. Armstrong and W. Moore have been nominated for the Mayoralty, and eleven candidates for the Council. DANNEVIRKE, April 17. Pastor Ries, the present Mayor and Mr J. J. Paterson, ex-Mayor, were, to-day, nominated for the , Mayoralty. Twenty-one persons have been nominated for positions as Councillors. WANGANUI, April 17. Mr C. E. Mackay was returned, unopposed, as Mayor. There are thirteeiV'nominations for nine seats on / the Council. NELSON. April 17. At the Municipal elections in this district Mr A. Sheat, who has been a Councillor for some years, has been elected Mayor of Richmond, unopposed. Mr F. W. Thorpe has been re-elected Mayor of Motueka, unopposed. INVERCARGILL, April 17. For the Invercargill Mayoralty there are two candidates, Messrs W. B. Scandrett (present Mayor) and J. Stead. For the twelve seats on the Borough Council there are fourteen candidates. In the Borough of Campbelltown (Bluff) Mr G. A. Whealler, the sitting Mayor, is opposed by Mr Joseph Metzger.
