(From Our Owif Correspondent.) Friday, f March 8. " r A^" serious~mlway*"~accident happened at !Newman, yesterday, It appears that one of Messrs Gardner Bros', wagons was just about to cross the line . when the man in charge, named Foreman, heard the •one o'clock train from Eketahuna coming. He ran to the leaders head to get clear • when he was caught by the cow-catcher and badly injured. The nature of his injuries are not known. He was subsequenly taken to the Pahiatua Hospital, where he will be attended to by Dr. Dawson. 'The [horses were severely injured, and Johe of them so badly that it •was decided^ have it destroyed.^
