THE "SWETTENHAM INCIDENT."

Received February 4, 9.56 p.m. LONDON, February 4. The Times' Kingston correspondent, in a letter dated January 19th, says that the landing of the marines was an error due to a misconception of duties by one of Sir J. A. Swettenham's subordinates. Sir J. A. Swettenham, on hearing what had occurred, thanked Admiral Davis for his prompt and friendly action and requested him to withdraw the force, for whose services there was no use whatever.
