THE TRANSVAAL ELECTION. Received January 28, 8.26 a.m. CAPETOWN, January 27. For the Transvaal elections there are 152 candidates, of which Het Vlok have 43, Independents 39, Progressives 31, Labour 22, and Nationalists 17. Ninety-two candidates contest the 34 Witwatersrand seats.

THE NATAL PREMIER.

Received January 28, 8.43 a.m. PIETERMARITZBURG, Jan. 27. Mr Moor, the lately-appointed Premier of Natal, has been re-elected. (Shortly after Mr Moor was appointed Premier it was discovered that he was interested in Government contracts, being a sleeping partner in a firm of contractors for the supply of mealies. He therefore resigned his seat and offered himself for reelection).
