The latter has oeen eased in his work lately, bat the other rive are doing well. £l. Fletcher >b keeping Silken Rein, Arahurs, Sweet Lethe, Batu, JUlaok Oil and a Saracen mare up to the mark. - Black Oil ia moving a little abort in his work, but looks well. English Rose, St. Brandon and' the Bonnie Scotland mare, Secretary, comprise D. Wilkinson's team, and T. Ray has Elfrida and Hamua in nice raoingjoandition. The handicaps for the Wairarapa Racing Club's meeting show evidence of careful adjustment by Mr J. E. ilenrys, albeit, that he may have

taken liberties with two or three of the candidates. Id this connection I might be mentioned Hoity Toity, 6.13, iu the Pimutaka Hack Handicap, of one mile and a distance. Should ihis mare shake off her soreness she would be very hard to beat on the day. The bandioapper,*bow ever, evidently looks upon her aa a baok number. Elfrida, 6.7, in in at the minimum iu the Tubitarata Handicap of 6 furlonßS. Considering her form of last season she is entitled to a few pounds more. On the other hand Mahuta, d.ll, is badly treated in baviug to give weight in the Hack Welter to winners in Lavinia and Labeooio, but in any case the Mahaki col*; can hardly be forward enough to win. A better line as to probable winners will ba obtained after the publication of acceptances. TheGreytown Hack Raoing Club"s meetiDg will take place on the Moioa Course, to-morrow. Among the entrants are the raoehorsfia Coin, Error, aDd Bonnie Esperanoe, while First Away, winner of a double at last year's gathering, will also be a competitor. Several horses, reputed to bo very fast-, will doubtless assist iu the surprises of the meeting. The acceptances raoeived for the Lower Valley meeting form a fair average and good racing should be witnessed. The raoing track is in better order than ever hefore, and the secretary and stewards are working hard to ensure the success of ti;e meeting. Rangi toto and Sen Sim read well in the Hack Hurdles. Silken Rein is certainly the pick of the six in the Kuamahanga Hack Handioap. Aborignal and Narcotic are probably the host of the L.V.C. Handicap candidates, and as Narcotio invariably races well on the home track be may win. Jolly Priar should eoore in the Maofarlaue Handicap, and Wailetho may account for the Hack Plying. Stratbflllan should be seen to advantage in the Otaraia Hack. The Maiden, with H nominations, should result in an exciting race. As the majority Of the horses rao ing at Martinborough will be engaged at Tauherenikau the .following week their running will doubtless be closely watched.
