THE MAURICEVILLE COUNTY COUNCIL.
The ordinary monthly meeting of j the Council was held on Wednesday, 2 the 28th day of November. Present. | F. W. H. Kummer (chair- j man, H. J. Dagg, J. Kennedy, 0. C. j Jackson, and J. D. Heckler. | A number of communications f were received relative to elections to > Hospital Boards and Charitable In- 5 stitutions. —It was decided to nomi-1 nate the Chairman as a Trustee for | the Masterton Hospital, and vote for j Mr A. W. Hogg as Trustee to the j "Wellington Benevolent Institution j Contributors i The District Road Engineer for- j warded a circular directing attention I to proceedings required to be taken i in opening and closing roads. ( The Eketahuna County Clerk j wrote, stating that his Council will | undertake to screw up the bridge at s Ivaipororo, raise the wheel guards, j and paint the bridge. The County Clerk, Masterton, j wrote, stating that in the dispute over the cost of the recent Licensing elections, nothing more than a passive resistance was intended to be made to any further claim for pay" ment, also proposing to include land in the County in the Rating Area for a proposed loan to subsidise the Government grant of £3OO for Upper Opaki Road. Cr Wall, who was unable to be present, was granted leave of absence. Instructions were given to procure iron-bark stringers' for Salter's bridge, and the bridge at Hastwell. 'D. McDonald's offer to do patching on part of Mangamahoe Road with metal from Brown's pit, at 8s per yard, was accepted. Tenders will be invited,for metal for patching the Main Road, Jackson's Road, Mauriceville West and North Roads, Dreyer's Rock and Mangamahoe : Roads. . . J The Chairman was authorised to get the fence at the railway, near the ; overhead bridge, put in order. It was resolved to/increase the price paid for birds' eggs to 4d per ■dozen, and for heads to 6d per dozen. • The proposal to remove the County ■Office to near th'e Mauriceville w£y Station, of which notice given at the previous meeting, was carried, Cr Jackson dissenting. Instructions'were given to make inquiry regarding the cost of a suitable building and site. , Accounts amounting to £44 lis lid were passed for payment.
