MASTERTON RIFLE VOLUNTEERS.

On Saturday morning, at the annual encampment of the Masterton Rifle Volunteers, the company i marched out of camp a* an advance guard. Yesterday moyning the officers made a tent inspection, and at, 10 o'olock the corps paraded for Divine S'ervioe, which was conduoted by : the Rev. A. M. Johnson, assisted by Captain Charters. There weie about fifty men, including about twenty of the Grey town Volunteer Corps, present, at the service. Some good work was put in by; the company across country yesterday afternoon. About forty men turned out, and the worK oomprised exeroises with the Maxim gun as well as bayonet and physical drill. The members of the Greytown squad, who are training for the Exhibition taUi'nament at Ohristchuroh) gave an exhibition in tent pitobing. Tbeu performance was a creditable one,and was six seconds quicker than the time that the Tout-Pitching Competition at the recent •tourhamen I '. at PalJaerston North was won in. General, leave was granted last ! evening. Tnis morning tbe company will indulge in judging distance by sight practioeandalao fire taotics.
