+—> — THE AICKIN CASE. By Telegraph—Press Association. AUCKLAND, Nov. 20. William Stevenson Aiokin, sharetroker, who was before the Supreme Court, yesterday, in connection with a charge againet him (to whioh he had pleaded guilty) of sending a threatening letter to Sir Joseph Ward, wrote to the Hon A. J, Tole, Crown solicitor, to day, declining to accept tbe conditions' of Justice Edward's deoision, whiob was to the effect that he be ordered to come up for sentence when called upon, and that he find sureties to keeu the peace for three years and not go beyond a radius of twenty miles from the city. In bis letter Aiokin states that he has decided to go to Mount Eden Gaol and remain there until released bv deafb or unconditionally by the Government, rather than accept Mr Justice Edward's larger prison of twenty miles radius. After referring again at length to Maori land law matters, Aickin says, "I placed myself within the reach of the law and must accept the consequences. The decision was as liberal ?s could be expeoted under the circumstances, and I have no cause for complaint, but if 1 am to mix in the community aaain it must be as an unfettered man." Aiokin aDpeared nt Court this afternoon, before Mr Justice Edwards. His Honour, after reading thejetter to Mr lole, suggested to Aipkin that he should take a week to reconsider matters. Aickin assented, and was remanded for a week accordingly.
