GLADSTONE.
*~ (From Our Own Corresnondent). GLADSTONE, Monday. The funeral of the late Mr D. MePhee, on Friday last, was largely attended by people from all parts of the surrounding districts. The late Mr ftloPbee was buried beside his laie in the Greytown oemetery. The pail-bearers were the Messrs MoPhee (2), and J. Smith (nephews of the deceased), and Mr A. S. Grant. The service at the graveside were conducted by the Rev. Mr Brown. The annual meeting of the Gladstone Sports Club was held in the Town Hall on Saturday evening, when there was a large number of members present. Mr A. Booth was voted to the chair. The balance sneet; as presented, showed the olub to be in a strong financial position. The balance at the Bank on deposit is £45, and the credit balance £3 3s lid, making a total of £4B 3s lid, a balance that few clubs in the district can show. It was decided to hold the sports as usual on .Anniversary Day, January 22nd, 1907, on the gruunds of Mr J. Strang, which have been kindly lent for the ocoasion. The following officers of the club were elected: —Patron, Mr W. C. Buchanan; President, Mr W. Srang; Vice-Pre-sidents, Messrs J. Strang, A. Claik, J. Parsons, and A. Turner; Hon. j Secretary, Mr S. Dalgleisb; Assistant Secretary, Mr J. Bannister. A strong committee, also,, was eleeted to work with the above. It was deoided to hold a dance in the evening of the sports day., The Programme Committee of the looal Sports Club will meet at the Town Hall next Tuesday evening, to draw'up the progamme for the forthcoming sports. The services at the Presbyterian Oburob, yesterday, were nenduoted by Mr Reich, of the Bible Tract Society, Wellington.
