AN EXTRAORDINARY TRAGEDY.
. An extraordinary tragedy pcouared in the rue d'Aumont, Paris, on September 13tb. A young soldier of excellent character, named Uonrrleres, sDent a jovial evening with bia friends on the eve of bis de partnre to join bia regiment in Lyons, and ended n becoming very drank. Ibis was, for bim, a most unusual ooourrenoe. He, however, retained consciousness enough to decide to snend the night with a friend naked Nau, instead of going to his parents home. On being admitted very late to the house in which Nau lived, he was unable to find Nau's iooui, which was on the second floor, and in his searoh at last mounted to the sixth floor. He went on to the balcony, and then, in his drunken stupor, smashed and opened a window, and climbed into the room of Madame Prevost, a widow. This lady Boreamed with terror, and her son and daughter rushed from adjoining rooms to her aid. fler son, thinking lie had to deal with a burglar, seized Oonrrieres uy the throat. Ooorrieres, imagining that a murderouß attack was made on him, drew bis knife and stabbed ri«bt and left. He wounded the widow, and stabbed young Prevost again and again till he fell dead. Then the drunkard turned towards Suzanne Prevost, the daughter, and tne latter, in her terror threw herself from a window looking into a courtyard, and was killed on the flags, twenty feet below. ..The'!' frenzied soldier then rushed out of the room and wounded j several other people before he was disarmed and arrested.
