FEDERAL COMMERCE ACT.
PROTEST BY CHAMBERS OP GOMMEKUE. Keoeived October 27, 0,45 a.m. LONDON s October 20.' At a meeting ot the London Chambers of Commerae, Mr James Laugbland, chairman of th« Australasian section, presiding, it was resolved that the requirements of tho Commonwealth Commerce Act were extremely onerout and calculated to hamper trade because the exact trade description of the materials ana ingredients of some imports cannot reasonably be given iu the form required, owing to their composition being a trade secret or their being commonly known by generic or trade names. The meeting considered that the regu'ations ought to be amended so that the acknowledged trade descriptions urdinarily in use shall be accepted by the Customs authorities, provided they are not calculated to deceive the buyer.
