MASTERTON BOROUGH COUNCIL

WORKS COMMITTEE. The adjourned meeting uf the Masterton Borough Works Committee was held last evening. The Mayor, Mr J. A. Renall, presided, and there were also present—Crs 3. H. Pauling, J. Elliott, F. W. Temple. T. G. Hoar, W. Morris, J. O. Ewington, E. G. Eton, and B. MoEwen. The Department of Agrtaulfcuro wrote ordering the Gounoil to clear the noxious weeds off the property at the abattoir. The Engineer was instructed to report on the cost of the work with a view to ascertaining whether it could be done by the Council or by tender. Several applications from storekeepers for licenses to store explosives were referred to the By-laws Committee. The Committee was also instruoted to take intc consideration the question of erecting a municipal building where looal storekeepers could store their explosives.
