CARTERTON SHOW.

The annual Show of tbe Wairarapa and East Coast Pastoral and Agricultural Sooiety will be opened on the Society's grounds at Carterton, to-day, and will be continued tomorrow. Excellent entries have been received, and the etook to be shown compares favourably with former shows. The popular Secretary of the Society (Mr H. S. Moss) has all the arrangements complete for the Show, which promises to be a decided success.

Mr J. Gordon, of Waikato, will judge the purebred Shorthorns, the entries for whiah total 21. Mr W. C. Buchanan and the Trustees of the late D. MoMaster are the only exhibitors. In grade Shorthorns there are 27 entries, the exhibitors being Messrs J. McMaater, W. E. Bid will, Selby Tancred, J. Gillies and W. Howard Booth.

The fat cattle will ba judged by Mr A. Moore, of Johnsonvil'e. The entries total 26. ivjessrs W. E. Bidwill, J. Gillies aud W. C. Buchanan are the exhibitors. Dairy cittle are well represented. In Ayrshires there are eleven entries, the exhibitors being Messrs C. Morgan, ?Arthur Tocker, H. Jb'east, G. E. Thomas, J. Standen. Mr I. Y. Dunoan will be the judge. The Jersey or Alderney class will be judged by Mr F. W. Cornwall, of New Plymouth. The entries number 20. Messrs P. C. Anderson, Andrew Eddie, R. B. Sayer, W. H. and A. E. Booth, E. Eagle and W. Drummond are the exhibitors. Messrs MoKenzie and Lovelock are the only exhibitors in the Hol-stein-f riesian class. The entries In the milkers total 44. Sheep are strongly represented. The entries in Lincolns, which will be judged by Mr H. Campbell, of Havelock North, number 21. The exhibitors are Messrs J. Collins, W. Perry, W. Kayner, and W. C. Buchanan. In the Romney Marsh class sheep will be shown by Messrs T. P. Allen, W. B. Allen, Gray Bros., C. Fairbrother, Jas. Collins, A. G. Tyler, W. H. Buick, McGregor Bros, and A. HardiDg. The entries number 69. Mr G. Wheeler, Stanway, will be judge. Mr Hugh Cemphall, Havelock North, will judge the Border Leicester. There are eight entries in this class. Tbe entries in English Leicester total 26. In Southdowns there are 37 entries, and in Shropshires 17. are 11 entriesJin|farmerß' classes. The judge of tbe fat sheep will ba Mr A. Moore, Johnsonville. The number of entries is 36. Good entries have also been received in the poultry, pigeon and dog classes, while horses are particularly well represented. Several competitions are to be decided on the first day.
