FALL FROM A BUILDING.
A WORKMAN INJURED.
A man named T. Newton, employed on the brick building which is being erected on the corner of Queen and Church Streets by Mr "J. Hunter, met with a serious accident oh Saturday rooming. A portion of tbe " brick work at the parapet of the building suddenly collapsed, and came crashing to the ground, carrying with it a section of the scaffolding. Newton was on the top of the briob work, and when it gave way be fell on to the pavenient below, a distauce of over 3C feet, and was struck by tbe timber from tbe soaflolding. Another man was working on the footpath at the 6ime, bat he was fortunate' enough to get clear of the falling bricks and timber. The fall stunned Newton. The injured man was taken to tbe Fire Brigade Station. There he was e>amined by Drs. A. Uosking and J. A. Oowie, and then conveyed to the hospital. Newton's skall was fractured behind the ear. Yesterday morning at the hospital Dr. A. Hosking operated on the injured man,> and though be is yet far from being out of danger, he is progressing as favourably as can be expected.
