A MAN SHOOTS HIMSELF.

CHRISTOHUROH, October 15. A man, named Frank S. Gaines, shot himself at the back of the Zetland Hotel this afternoon. Tbe man visited tbe hotel at about 4 o'clock and had a whisky and was quite rational and sober when be left. About half-an-hour afterwards he was found dead in an outhouse at the naok of the hotel with a revolver wound through his head, a new revolver beside him, and a box of cartridges in his pocket. The man,' who has a wife and child, was discharged from bis employment this morning.
