They were willing to loyally observe the law, but obligations had been entered into in connection with varioufc doubles at the late Randwiok meeting and tho Melbourne meeting. Many clients who got a "leg in" at Randwick might desire to "hedge" or otherwise protect their position. Mr Wade replied that be was aware that the Bill was severe. He was anxious not to do anything unneooepsarily drastic. Without infringing the law he would be will ing to alllow obligations already incurred to be met by those who desirod to met them as debts of honour. Ha could not give adhesion to the request iu the form it was put, but he would consider it with a view to finding a way of alleviating the alleged hardships.
