Received October 7, 4.42 p.m. LONDON, The Scottish Liberal Association, by 55 votes to 34, have declared that it is the primary duty of the Liberal Party to strenuously oppose all candidates who refuse to disassociate themselves from the Socialists. The Master of Elibank (the Hon. A. W. E. Oliphant Murray) described the Socialists as wreckers. SPEECH BY MR HALDANE. Received October 7, 5.4 p.m.. LONDON, October 6. Mr R. B. Haldane, speaking at Peebles, said that if Keir Hardie, or anybody else, brought forward abstract propositions conflicting with Liberal principles, or if he wished to nationalise land, capital or anything else, the Liberals would cross swords with bin. It the Socialists wished to deny the right of private property let them say so and the Liberals would take a square issue on that proposition. Personally he was not afraid of the Liberals degenerating into Socialists. LABOURITES ANDj SOCIALISM. Received.October 7, 5.6 p.m. LONDON, October 6. The Marquis of Lnnsdowne, speaking at Perth, condemned Labourites who openly preached Sooialism, and class privileges. He advised caution respecting disarmament, although bo would be willing to co-operate when other nations began disarming.
