HOCKEY.

Three games were played in Masterton, yesterday afternoon, and in eaob case the opposing parties consisted of a team of young ladies, and a team of men, who were handicapped by playing in skirts and by using one hand only to the stick. The matoh 'between the Ranpos and a team of men, on the Soboolground, resulted in a win for the former by foar goals to three goals. Misses V. Carpenter, O. and B. Easthope and M. Moore scored goals for tbe winners, and Messrs Williams, Thynne and F. Ricbards for the losers. ' Mr J. King was referee. Tbe match between the Huias and the "Makumakos" resalted in a draw. Mr R. Hooper was referee. The Garry Owens defeated a team of young men by two gokls to one. Mr A. Wilton was referee. After the matches each of the men's teams entertained their opponents to afternoon tea.
