STREET IMPROVEMENTS.
I . ENGINEER'S REOOMMEN- ' DATIONS. i _ I Reference to the fterbfng and asphalting of footpaths in the Borough was made in a report submitted oy the Engineer to the meeting of the Masterton Borough Council last evening. Mr Dobson stated that the work of asphalting the footpaths was progressing satisfactorily. As, however, a considerable amount of kerbing is required to be done in advance of both the formation of the paths and the gravelling of the roads, the Engineer suggested |hat instead" of pushing on with some of the works in scbeduie B of the £25,000 loan schedule, instructions be given to have the following works put In hand at onoe:—-Queen Street—Grading and asphalting both sides from the Queen's Hotel to the Makora Greek, the halanoe to remain until the grading of Queen Street South is completed; Pine, Perry and Hall Streets, and Lincoln Road-—Kerb, channel and asphalt both sides; Ohapel Street—Kerb and ohannej for 45 cbains. The Counoil decided to do the work of kerbing and asphalting by day labour. The report was adopted.
